I think quite a few of the fry are going to be pin tailed,my red wag male has a pin tail.

Where does the pin tail originate,i haven't seen many pin tail platies in the lfs?

I have no idea where a pin tail comes from but it is a well recognized variation on a fancy platy. I have seen some gorgeous pin tail platies, but not at the LFS.

I do like the pin tail platies,it adds a bit more character to them.It will be interesting to see how many come out pin tailed and what colours

He is a very nice platy Harlequins. I have seen platy pictures with a more gradual shape to the pin tail where the pin tail is a fairly gradual change in tail shape that ends up in almost a V shape with the pin tail at the point of the V. I have no idea which better represents the "ideal" pin tail shape. I an not a judge of show fish so I don't know which shape is considered ideal.
