Trying to make final plans for my stocking of the new 55gal. So, here is what the set up is like:
55gal.
Two 60gal. Filters
Sand
Lots of fake plants
Rock with lots of caves and hidey holes
Cycled: Ammonia&Nitrite 0 Nitrate 20-30 Temp 79

Current fish:
6 Giant Danios

Fish to be rehomed before I get puffs:
African Brown Knife
Common Pleco

Future fish:
6 SAPs
Some kind off group of bottom dwellers???
Possibly a pair of Bolivian Rams? Don't know much about these, so not sure if they would work or not.

Any suggestions on a bottom dweller? Would prefer a group of something. Love clown loaches, but they get to big... Anything else that will actually come out during the day? And how about the rams? I honestly know nothing about them, so please give me any info you can!
Thanks!

Get yourself a nice shoal of corys. Very active during the day and fun to watch.

If you want to know more about rams, have you looked at the fish species index pages on this forum? There is some very good info. I think the most common ones are Bolivian Ram and German Blue Ram. Read up on them and let us know what you fancy so maybe someone here can help you out a little more.

Giant Danios are a good choice in my opinion to live with SAPs, not only do they like strong current sub-tropical temps (22C would be a good), but they are fast swimmers (a critical criteria for SAPs in a community). Buy another four danios ;)

For the bottom of the tank, if you want to "risk" even more of a community, I would avoid Bolivian Rams, they will not enjoy the water current the SAPs need and it would raise the minimum temp setting to the high end of the SAPs and danios. I cannot see Corydoras being quick or hardy enough either. I would look for a suitable group of riverine loaches, such as 8-10 Zebra Loaches, which would mean keeping the minimum temp at 23C.

I will see if my LFS has any zebra loaches! They are beautiful!
To bad on the rams :( Petsmart has some and they look great! I may add some more Danios later on, but for now I think I'll just stick with six. Anything else you would suggest?
