Hiya

I am new to fish keeping and have posted many questions on here today, all giving me varying advice, soem of which contradict each other:

Can anyone see any problem with the following:

These are going to be my 2 tanks (48x15x18)

A) 2 kribs, 3 loach, 1 rtb shark, 1 plec, 1 pictus, 1 blue acara, 2 keyhole, 1 firemouth, 2 angel, 2 festivum, 2 sailfin molly, 3 odessa barb, 4 tiger barb, 4 scissortails

B) 2 corydoras, 2 kuhli loach,5 neon tetra, 3 cardinal tetra, 5 serpae tetra, 5 black neon tetra, 5 black phantom tetra, 3 bleeding heart tetra, 5 red eye tetra

Sound ok????
Any need swapping over??
Any no good?

Any help much appreciated
THANKS V MUCH

ps - this is not spam

With the Blue Acara in "A", I would rather move the Scissor tails and the Mollies to "B", and in stead of getting 5 neons and 3 cardinals in "B", I would settle for only 6 Cardinals.... They do display much better than neons..... In tank "a", in place of the Mollies & scissors removed,... I'll add 4 Congo tetras (for a bit of life.... & coulour)

Hi
Thanks for the advice mate

Would tank a not be overcrowded? i hope not, some say yes, some say no
also teh pictus catfish i hear can be very very aggrssive?

Unfortunately, I have no experience with Pictus, so cannot advise on that.... As to the overcrowding..... You are pushing it, but, will only compell more regular water changes.... I'd say about 33.33333% every week will do....

Thanks very much
You seem to give the best advise on this forum

Much appreciated

drop the pictus, these get big and need to be kept in groups or they will hide

move mollys to B

Also the tank isn't big enough for all of the cichlids to have territories, i would either move the keyholes to tank B and have just the one Festivum or keep the keyholes in tank A and remove the festivums altogether

move the scissortails to tank B, these are at risk from getting killed by the others.

increase both barb species to 5

A) 2 kribs, 3 loach, 1 rtb shark, 1 plec, 1 blue acara, 2 keyhole, 1 firemouth, 2 angel, 5 odessa barb, 5 tiger barb,
OR
A) 2 kribs, 3 loach, 1 rtb shark, 1 plec, 1 blue acara, 1 firemouth, 2 angel, 1 festivum, 5 odessa barb, 5 tiger barb,

B) 2 corydoras, 2 kuhli loach,5 neon tetra, 3 cardinal tetra, 5 serpae tetra, 5 black neon tetra, 5 black phantom tetra, 3 bleeding heart tetra, 5 red eye tetras

increase Corydoras numbers to 5-6
tetras shoals should be at least 5
personally would drop 2 tetra species in favour of a centrepiece fish such as pearl gouramis.

B) 6 corydoras, 2 kuhli loach,5 neon tetra, 5 serpae tetra, 5 black neon tetra, 5 black phantom tetra, 5 red eye tetras, 4 scissortails, 3 mollys (1M2F), 2 Keyholes

Thanks very much

That's a very nice thing to say, but the best advice I can give to anyone on this forum,... is to listen intently when you get advice from Big_C.... Tolak...... Collin_T..... or Inchworm.... verrrrrry sound advice from those quarters, & you can't go wrong.

Thanks Dav but wouldnt 42 fish in tank b be too much?

I would also increase kuhlis to at least 6, otherwise you'll never see them. Luckily they add little to the bioload.

Thanks Dav but wouldnt 42 fish in tank b be too much?

neons, black neons and kuhli loach are barely an inch in size and don't really have too much of a bioload so i wouldn't personally be too concerned by having that number of fish in a 55USG tank,

Also I would personally be 100% comfortable adding keyholes to a tank with tetras and the other species in your stocking, I currently have two of these and IMO they are very peaceful considering they are a cichlid,
