Hi I recently noticed that my Common Pleco's fin has started to dissapear. Its acting normal and I have tested ammonia (0 ppm) Nitrite (0 ppm) and nitrate (10 ppm). So all tests are fine. I think the Pleco has fin rot but im not sure what do you guys think?

What size is the tank and what other fish do you have in there? Could something be nipping it?

+1, also, watch it for a little while, it could be snagging it on an ornament or bogwood etc. Also, there is a thread on here somewhere, where it was discussed as being a sign of growth, my two both "grew" tears in the dorsal fins, which were gone in a matter of days, and they grew roughly 2" over 4 months. I added a dose of King British Disease Clear to be safe though. It a multi treatment, that has aloe vera, which helps fin regrowth. Also, increased water changes are recommended.

Hi thanks for the responses, I've never seen him get attacked or nipped and I do keep an eye on the tank. I've got Dwarf Gourami, couple of golden barbs female betta and a blue acara. The tanks a 50 gallon. I was going to add some fin rot treatment, but I will leave it now and see what happens.

Do a few extra large water changes just to make sure the water is as clean as possible and see if it clears up on its own. Clean water is the best medicine for many things.

Yh I did a water change as soon as I saw it. I'll jus keep an eye out c wat happens.
