Hiya,

Just a quick question I probably think correct but would love to be wrong.

I have 6 Tetras, Had large problems with identity was sold as *Lime green tetra* even tho its a blueish colour with a black tip to the tail.

Question is commonly I believed tetra to be nippy little so and so's and I'm really considering buying some Thread find Rainbows

But dont fancy them being hurt, they are so beautifull anyone have any suggestions.. I will buy more tetras if they are not going to mix but would certainly prefer them.
Or maybe some one can give some suggestions.

I have so far 6 tetras 1 Bristlenose catfish and corydoras to many to count, and 3 Otocinclus I have 22.2gal tank with fantastic filtration Eheim Pro *largest model forget size*
planning to reduce the corydoras number soon and just planning out a nice stocking

I'm largely a planted tank

Thanks you
Carl Chaplin

at one point my father had 21 tetras, danios and serpeas with gouramis and angels, and the tetras never nipped at the long fins on the gouramis and angels. hope this helps!!!!!

I think you are wise to be concerned about tetra nippyness. Its next to impossible because of all the species but my current thought on how to generalize it best is to say that all tetras have some nippyness but it varies greatly by species. The worst, like Serpae, can be really quite bad but even the lowliest neon tetras can get nippy if their shoal numbers get too low and that is the main control factor we've got as aquarists. Larger shoals, greater chance of less nippyness!

So that's just my long winded way of being useless  as the "lime" ones you mention.. I've not seen discussed here so have no idea where they'd fit into the nippyness. If they are a concoction whipped up by the bartender out of lemon tetras then I'd put them less nippy than serpae but more nippy than many of the smaller bodied species...

Tomorrow I'll try to supply a picture, as I'm eager to indentify them as the fish I want are gorgeous but wouldnt dare subject them to pain, they are to nice for that :)

On a side note.. are Bristlenose Catfish compatible with a general Plecostomus? my sister has one that she needs to home :/ I know of their large growing size but this one is actually very old and small.. Stuck in a small tank *angry rant*
