I have an Aqua medic percula 100g tropical set up. Built into the rear is an up and over trickle filter. At the top of the wier I have wool folded over a tube to silence the flow, then a small internal (P1) pumping over the trickle tray with a spraybar, which is covered in 1" of wool. This is because the previous owner had replaced the original drip tray with an acrylic sheet full of 10mm holes, no water was getting very far across it and not much of a drip!! It is an up and over set up measuring 20"h x 5"d x 40" long, the trickle filter section taking up 15". A small 2" section b4 the trickle has coarse black foam on the up flow measuing 18" long. The power head returning low level to the tank is rated 1250 lph. An aqua one 2450 UV/C completes the filtration, I have added additional wool for water polishing and additional ceramic media. My concern is that this is too much filtration, if there can be such a thing.?? The external returns via a spray bar, aimed at various angle as I have it around a corner and in 3 sections, to keep surface ripple to a minimum. Cud this level of filtratration affect plants? Thanks for any feedback.
