I had a problem with algae in my tank so I put another filter in my tank so I have two now and it done the trick for me

Using two filters is a good option if it works for you, however investing in two things when you can buy a uv sterilizer is better. It also helps in removal of algae and green cloudy water. But Again it also depends on the type of algae you have issue with. Last month my roommate was facing this issue, ended up buying a uv sterilizer and it is still working, clear water. And by using it you can also use real plants in your aquarium.
