Filter Strength?

I currently have my fluval filter on full as advised by a friend, but it seems to be very strong in the tank almost like there is a current in there would this be to strong for the fish or is this ok? i don't want them to be uncomfortable in there as they seem to be getting swished around a little.!

I have sharks, guppies, mollies, angels, sword tails, glass fish, catfish and neons. It's the angels that seem to be affected by the current strength the most

What size is the tank, what filter is it and what is the rated litres per hour (LPH)? In the meantime why don't you turn it down.
