I've got an external filter on my 100 litre tank plus the supplied Juwel internal filter.

Could i add a second external and ditch the internal filter!?

I've got a fluval 205 external currently, so was thinking something a little smaller like a Eheim Ecco model.

Helllllp :)

You certainly could run two exturnals without the internal :good:

A tip, the Eccos are rubbish. If you want a cheap Eheim, get a classic, but they are a bit fiddely to prime, and re-seat the main seal ring on apparently. If you want an easy to use Eheim, go with the pro2 range. If your budget does not reach that far, look at the Tetratec EX700's.

Yer, thanks for that.

Thing is... Technically the tank could run fine just on the one existing external ( i think ) so i thought maybe just a small 2nd filter would be good?

Any other recommendations on a good model?

Generally, you can't overfilter. You can end up with too much flow in the tank when fish get blown around, but there are solutions to that aside from reducing the filtration.

I've also found that having extra filters helps "farm" mature media for starting other tanks.

Yer i see your point defo. What if... i bought a small external... say rated for up to 100 litres and used a spray bar as opposed to jet output?

On the Tetratecs, and EX700 would serve well.

On the Eheims;

Classic model 2213

Pro 2 (recomended) model 2026

The 2026 is acctually likely to be overkill, but with a spraybar to reduce the torrent in the tank, would be a very good filter. See the links below for more information on each;

whatever you do, remover the juwel item. they are a ***** to clean, don't work very well and takes up valuable tank space.
