Filter Positioning, Tank Cleaning

Hi Guys

I have recently got into the tropical fish thing. Tank has been setup for a while now and is stocked with fish.

its a 96litre, and has 1 gourami, 2 female fighters, 1 male fighter, 1 albino rainbow shark, 1 ram, 1 juli corrydora and 8 neons and 12 small fry.

One thing i have noticed is when i feed them, the food gets swirled around in teh water. I have a Tetratec 600 external filter with the spitbar. This is positioned about 1cm above the water level so it puts a bit of air into the water as it hits the surface. Because of this i cant tell if the fish are eating all the food in 5-10 minutes or not and i cant fish it back out. Because if this i think i am overfeeding, as my water is very slightly white cloudy.

It it better to have the bar under the level of the water?

Is it also a good idea to have the inlet at the other end to the outlet as at the moment they are both on the same panel of glass and im not sure there is a proper full tank flow of water

The white clouding can be a bacteria bloom, have you do a tank recycle?

when i feed my fish i turn down the flow of my filter so no water movement and feed them giving them two mins to eat it as i feed twice a day. Or turn your filter off but if you do remember to turn it back on again this will stop the food flying around your tank. I like no flow so i can feed by have if i'm giving them other food apart from flakes, then i'll crunch up the flakes as i got baby fish.

As has been said the clouding will be from a bacterial bloom.

You shouldn't keep male and female fighters together; you can keep females together but it's recommended at 5 or more together; the more domimant one will pick on the other one.

I'm assuming by fighter, you mean betta? If so, 1) males shouldn't be with tetras, they will nip the fins. 2) males and females will still fight. 3) You should have at least 5-6 females if you want to keep them together.
