Hi folks,

Cant believe I have never thought of this, but I was buying new filter pads for my Tetratec ex 1200 and wondered how often you need to change the ceramic media and the bioballs? I only ever change the pads. What do you all do. I have only had my tetra tec running for almost a year.

Cheers Chish

Bio balls will last for years, at most they will require a rinse in tank water. really its only the sponges in a filter that need a clean, and replace when they are falling to pieces.

Yeah cool ,thats what I figured. :good:

Eeeewwwwwwaa!! the mess you find in bioball boxes!!  but yea, kewskills is right!

I'm just imagining the GUNK your gonna find when you open up the media box hahahahahaa Lordy Lordy!!! lil shake will do ya though! :good:

I have a Tetratec ex1200 also, only been running about 4mnths so far though. Im about to give it its first clean soon ... The bioballs and last for ages, im not sure about the ceramic rings ?? I know they last long, but not sure as long as the bioballs ??

What Floss do you use chishnfips ?? I dont find the Tetratec Floss to be thick enouth, and it wears out pretty quick. Im looking for some thicker Floss at the mo...

lol waterbender I still clean em lol, so its not that messy.

Darrel: I just use the standard tetra tec floss, but I know what you mean it just to pulp. I get them from zooplus.
