Filter Media Question

How long should you leave filter media in to ensure the bacteria had moved to the filter sponge? Ive had it in at least three weeks! Want to be sure before I take it out?

Six weeks is the usual recommended time.

whats the rush to take it out?

It's onto if the other sponge because it was a different size and I didn't want to cut my main one. So I think it's stopping the flow a bit! I may cut it to fit better if six weeks is the norm. Cheers for the replies!
