I had one of my synodontis catfish in a 10 gallon tank to heal a fin of his and I added some aquarium salt, since then it pretty much removed the finrot that was on him he's looking as good as new. I'm separating my clown loaches for now because some of them are getting too thin and I want to fatten them up before adding them back into the large tank. Could I use the media from the QT tank I had setup? There is only a very fine amount of salt in the water so I dunno if I should wash the media out and let it dry before adding it back to a canister of mine, or if the media will be fine for the loaches. I know they are sensitive to salt but I'm still edging towards the idea of washing the media under tap water, letting it dry out and then readding it back to my canisters.

Thoughts?

I don't know about salt and loaches - with most fish you would be fine

But whatever you choose don't wash the filter media in tap water it will kill your beneficial bacteria. Was it in tank water - if possible with some water taken out of one of your other tanks (without salt in)
