So I got a cheap 5 gal aquarium for $25, I'm using it for my betta. I turned on the filter and it was weird. I have a QuietFlow filter for my 10 gal, this one is just weird. Where the water comes out, it's a freakin jet. My betta doesn't like it. I tried to baffle it, but it blew it right off. I don't want to remove the filter because that's the reason I paid $5 extra.

Can you stuff some filter sponge in the outlet to lessen the flow, or turn it so the flow hits the side of the glass

Thanks for the response, there is no are for the filter sponge to go to, also, the tank has a little area for the cord to go to, so it couldn't go against the wall.

What tank & filter is it?
I used to have a Fluval spec & the filter flow on that was too strong, I just stuffed as much sponge as I could into the outlet & it lessened the flow

The tank is a Hawkeye, I don't know what the brand of the filter is, but it says Miny Might of the filter.

I've no experience of those, so don't know what to suggest, sorry

That kit will set you back a pretty penny. If you already have a tank and filter, why change it? A betta is not the fragile thing that many people make them out to be. I always house my bettas in my 45 gallon endler tank. It is a nice robust setting where any betta had better decide to become a real fish or just perish. They all live at least 5 years in that tank but at first they do try to convince me that they are really not fish but something that must be coddled. I have seen their act before so I ignore it.
This is my present veil-tailed betta in the 45 gallon with the canister filter. He swims all over the tank the same way the endlers do and has been in there for about 2 years so far.

Have you tried pointing the filter outlet at the back or side of the tank to lessen the current? This is waht I have to do with my circulation pump.
