Filter For A 100 Gal

2 Eheim Aquaball 2212 Internal Filters?? (£40-50)

What about a second hand external filter? It would be more suitable for the tank, and at least you have a colony of bacteria building up... Maybe a ummm.... tetratec or someting to that effect?

Filtration depends on the fish you plan on stocking the tank with.

:dunno: However, I am going to overfilter slightly.

Try this price; http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl36...ar70powerfilter

The AC 300 has been renamed AC 70, they did this over a year ago. I have a pair of them running on a 72 gallon, along with an Eheim 2215. This tank contains an oscar & a plec, so it is pretty well overfiltered. A pair of 300/70's on an average stocked 100 gallon should be fine. If you plan on doing any serious overstocking add a canister, and set up the media for bio filtration, and the AC's for mechanical filtration.

Hob filters are generally better at mechanical filtration, canisters are better at bio filtration, as long as they are a low flow canister for the media volume.
