Hi all. I am starting up a 55g fully planted tank and I would love to get some feedback on filters. The tank will not be overstocked: 7 zebra loaches and 10 glowlight tetras. I would like to go with the canister filter for this tank. The only available options here are a Fluval for up to 70g, or a Fluval for up to 100g. I know more is better, but I am not sure how much will be needed to keep a fully planted tank with 17 fish happy and healthy. To be honest, I'm not sure if the fact that it will be fully planted makes a huge difference...but, hey, thought I'd ask! Oh, and also available is a Fluval for up to 55g, I thought of maybe adding two of these for filtration. Any thoughts/advice?

okay rule of thumb for any planted tank is 10x the turnover of the tank volume so for your 55gal,  u want to aim for a filter with 550gal per hour turn over, for example my 23gal i have 230gal per hour turn over on that tank, fluvial filters are very good, so i can't fault them

Thank you for your response...I'll have to figure out which one gives that turn over rate! I am on it, calling the shop now. Thanks!

Thanks everyone - I found a suitable filter to do the job....more expensive than I thought!! I'll have to hold off for a couple of weeks to get this tank started!!
