Filter Advice

Hi people looking for some advice.....

At the moment I have a Roma 240 with a 305 external that is currently going through a fishless cycle (nearly complete) and I have just purchased a Tetra tec ex 1200 for additional filtration so my questions are

1.... When do i set this up ?? Now or wait till the cycle is complete

2... Do I use the media that's supplied or change/ add other media

3... Do I add some mature media from the 305 or use as is

Set it up now, either add some of the nearly cycled media or just squeeze it over, and cycle both together.

If it comes with carbon, I'd replace that with more sponge and save the carbon for when it's needed.

Set it up as and when. It's an additional filter, so the cycled 305 will be able to handle the initial bioload and the tetratec is just offering another area for bacterial colonization. You will have to slowly increase the bioload as per normal. They can be considered as one filter system tbh, so where you would slowly add more fish on a normal basis, you still do

To much you reckon ?? Any advice as to where to position outlets

my fluval 305 copes very well with my roma240. I am putting a powerhead to move the water round a litle more. I will be aiming this against the flow of the filter outlet but in the opposite corner of the tank
