The surface film is caused by DOC's (Dissolved Organic Compounds) It is lighter than water and remains at the surface. A quick fix, as bignose suggests is to soak it up with paper towels, however if you increase water changes it will disappear all on its own. A surface skimmer is also a good idea as it pulls it from the surface.
DOC's can also contribute to the formation of BGA so keep a watch on it.
