When I first got my firemouth I was unsure if he was going to work as my Parrot and Severum gave him hell, but now he's getting bigger and starting to pick on my parrot. Now my parrot never comes out unless either me or my fiance are in the room. What can I do to restore peace?

thats really weird... my parrots ownes my firemouths

how big is the parrot and fm's?

re arange the tank so they lose their territorys and it gives the weaker fish to make one before the stronger one. and it will confuse everyone so they will be okay

DDs suggestion is a good one but in order for it to work you must have a seperate tank that you can put the more dominate fish into, also lowering the temp to around 74 degrees will help as well, but IME if they wanna have clashes its going to happen it really doesn't matter what you do, so your only real choices are either get rid of one of them, or divide the tank depending on how big it is.

EDIT: I typed that before looking at how big the tank was in your sig, I am afriad that the tank is already going to be over stocked and the only real option is to get rid of one of the fish.

This is why I don't randomly mix new worlds like this - it goes against their instinct and nature. These fish were never meant to get along in the first place. Not what what you want to hear, and probably gonna be ignored, but it's the best advice I can give.

I've already started looking for a new tank for the firemouth! He was an impulse buy "doh" just had to great of color to pass up. It's still really strange though, as the parrot owned the tank for a while, even with the firemouth. Plus the parrot will push around the sev that's now a little bigger than him, and the sev pushes around the firemouth.

I didn't mind the clashes before as they where just minor, no biting just a short chase and that was that, but the firemouth has a spot on him now that looks like a bite mark, and the parrot is in hiding most of the time. I believe that it is his personality to hide a lot as he did that before the firemouth, but he was coming out more and more before. Plus his hiding spot changed so I have to look for him in order to find him.

They are about the same size now.

I've got a spare 20G in the house is that too small for the firemouth.

I recently had to find a home for my Texas Cichlid as he and my JD started having major disputes. Tex grew alot larger then JD did but still was the victim of harrasment.
