I have recentley got myself 3 Severums and a Blue Acara...

...As far as i was aware the Severums were

Male Gold Efaciatus
Female Red Spotted Efaciatus
Male Green Efaciatus

and the Blue Acara was a standard Pulcher..

However having been looking at them for a while, i'm changing my mind.

It looks to me like i have 2 red spotted sevs (male and female) and i was right on the green.

The larger 'gold/red spotted' Sev also has red eyes...which my old Gold Sev didnt have.

The Blue Acara looks to me like it could be a Andinoacara Sp. Gold Saum (i hope it is not)...

Opinions guys?

Thanks Nelly, any idea on the id's? my new Pulcher looks alot like the Gold Saums i used to have :S

The blue acara is a female that I know.

As far as the severums looks like to red spots and one green. Both red spots look to be male the green Im not sure.

Ah cool so its definitely a Blue Acara and not a Green Terror...phew.

The green Sev and the bigger Gold/Red Spot both have the Male snake markings but the little red spot doesent...thats why i thought she was female, plus they both have extended fins and both seem to vie for the small red spots attention :p

they looked like they both had the face marks in the photo. Don't go by fins the cheek marks are a sure sign. Blue acaras can look like the green terror but your is a BA. They are nice fish I have 2 they were a breeding pair but I had to split them up I like them better single.

I see what you mean, cos all three of them have it to a degree, the only difference is the smaller red Spots facial markings look more 'artificial' like its a extension of the red spot pattern, whereas the bigger ones look separate.

based on the pics i would say the BA is male, but still unsure. you can tell its not a gold saum because the tail is grey all the way to the edge

I would say the larger red spot is male, however, I wouldnt like to say on the smaller two, they are still small to sex IMO.
