Hi, just wondering if someone else had this problem, i bought 3 female fighters a few days ago, i thought the first one dying was just a weak fish,
but now i have another one which looks like it has a broken back and trying to swim, but i know it will die, i looked on the side of this second fish and it has two white circles on one side of the fish its like this shape "O" with normal colour in middle with a white ring, it looks like what i would guess is a cat fish bite.
i have a large 6foot by 3 foot tank with many health fish ie lost none till i put these in the tank,

any advice would be great ..

Thanks

John

what are the water parameters?
can you list all tankmates?

what else was in the tank with them some thing not right hear

Hi. tested all ph, nitrate lvls everything there all fine, we have quite a few fish
neons
hardwoods
guppies
platties
mollys
2 clown loach
2 weather loaches
2 common plecos
1 gold spotted pleco
2 elephant nose
angels
blue loaches
clown loach
2 bronze corys
tetras

most are in pairs of two and are all small fish at the moment, except we have one large pleco but cant be him too big mouth, my guess is the gold spotted pleco or common pleco, common is 3inch
spotted gold is about 5inch

would love to try and find out whats happening to them but never seen any agression..

PS the white circle has like purple brusing now in the middle,

Thanks

John

i have had all the fish for months and there has been no fighting, i also had the male fighter for a long time with no problem, its only since the female fighters appeared, i have seen no fighting,its a 224 gallon tank;

What are your readings for Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and PH?
I doubt that it's any of your Plecos as they are not renowned for bullying, only to other Plecs!
Clown Loaches have been known to nip, as do Angels so either could be responsible.
Do you know what your blue Loaches are?
There are a few Loaches that aren't ideal for a community tank as not only do they nip but they can be quite boisterous too.
What type of Tetras do you have and what is a hardwood?
The mark sounds more like a fungal infection. Unfortunately, female fighters can be prone to them but it may have been caused by another fish.
Have you got a quarantine tank?

Hi, thanks for the suggestions, the fins the fish are unmarked just looks like it had its back broken, but its like somthing has sucked on the side of it, there are the two circular marks like 1mm apart and are really noticable, white outline, with brusing in middle. none of the loaches, or angels etc have a mouth that could cause the marks on the fish, but im open to all suggestions..

Thanks everyone for the help so far.

just want to make sure i have the correct cause so i can prevent any further problems

sry yeah i have got a quarintine tank, but this fish will be lucky to survive the next hour.
the nitrate lvls are 0, ammonia and ph lvls are all normal.

It does sound like an infection. The part that looks bruised, is it purple or red?
Plecos have been known to suck on Discus but that's because they are slow moving and have a big surface area. I've not heard of them sucking on any other fish but there's always a first time!
It may not necessarily be a bite mark, it could have had a small mark and it's spread to infection.
It would be worth moving her to the quarantine tank and medicating her.

Definately sounds like ulcers. They're caused by bacterial infections, so you'll want an anti-internal bacteria med.

I just picked it up with the net to have a closer inspection it could be a fungus, but i have attached a link to a picture of the sick fish,
it aint great quality, but im sure might help solve the problem,
