I've been conditioning my male and female for 2 weeks now and yesterday night I put her in the males 10 gallon tank with pop bottle cut in half.

He has made a huge bubblenest in his polystyrene cup and is showing off to her, but she seems to be uninterested? Will she eventually become interested in him and start showing off too, or haven't i given her a chance to settle in? Everytime he goes and flares at her she flinches and try and hide. Also the temperature is 27.5, is this the right temp?

This is my first time attempting to breed and I know the first time can be hit or miss in being successful. But I'm sure if it all goes wrong I will learn from my mistakes. I do have patience for this! All advice will be very appreciated.

Sorry for all the questions, I just want to get this right. I can see how it can be annoying. :)

EDIT;; also how will i know when she's ready to be let in with the male?

she may just not like him, some females are very picky *the fish!* if she is ready she will show vertical lines and be manically trying to get out of the chimney

Yeah haha! I might remove her, give it a few days and try him with a new female. I can't see any breeding bars on her seeing as she's quite light. Shame though, he's made a perfect bubblenest  , hopefully he'll maintain it for another couple of days!

If you have a male in good condition, he will even build a nest while breeding with a well conditioned receptive female. Don't worry about him having one in advance.
