i noticed on the FAQ section that u can keep more than one female betta in a tank...

but how do u tell the difference between males and females. ive noticed on some threads people have bought 4 or 5 female bettas at the same time from their lfs, but how can u be sure ur not picking up a male?
or is it thru experience.

To tell if its a female and not a male PK, look at the fish between the ventral fins (The ones by their belly) There should be a small white spot, I can't remember the technical Term for it, oviposterior or something like that? It might be harder to see on lighter colored females, but thats how you tell. ^_^

(If anyone has a good picture please post, I dont have any good ones.)

ovipositor

But I don't have a pic handy to post atm, sorry. It seems to me it is really hard to miss on a mature female.

I swear, when my little male pk betta was young, he had what looked like an ovipositor. But now, he's definately all male. So weird. Anyway, if they have long flowing fins, they're definately male. If they don't, I don't know... I still get confused between a female and a young male pk.
