How do you tell the difference between a female plakat and a none-plakat female? (to me they all look the same).

I bought females :hyper:. I'm just curious to know what they are as such; I'll get photos once they are settled in.

I saw one and decided I was going to get females; she is a royal blue crown tail :); then if I was getting one I may as well go for a sorority :); I have 2 crown tails and I'm not sure on the other ones (like I said pics when they settle in).

They are absolutely TINY; about an inch long (at most).

I've noticed females are getting younger in the lfs. Good to hear you went with females, can't wait to see the pics!

It's all in the tail shape and anal fin x

Well I got 4 all from the same tank and they'd all been living together; I saw them at the weekend but wasn't sure. I need to plant my tank up a bit more so I'm plant shopping tonight and at the weekend :).

I just wasn't sure if I should add another one or not; the other one would be from a different shop; they have double tails that I quite like the look of. I am thinking I'll wait a bit and see how they get on first.

I can't believe how small they are; I knew they were small and it's only when I looked at them and at my male that I noticed how small they actually were. I might try and get a ruler and measure them properly.

Let them grow a bit more before adding more females. As they have already been living together, there shouldn't be an issue with them.

I fed them for the first time last night; they are no bigger than an inch; the smallest one is a bit smaller; I fed them the halkari (spelling) baby pellets and they were too big; it took them a while to realise the food was there but once they realised they all ate well :); one was swimming around with a pellet in her mouth (like a dog with a ball); I did put a few of the full sized ones in to see if they were too big; which I then crushed up for them. I’ve crushed a lot so that we are good for a few weeks :).

Sounds like they are the size of my hmpk I got last month.

They could be young or just stunted, the next few weeks will tell you which is which. Good thing about getting them that size, is that your learning more about them as you go on x

PICTURES PLEASE

I think they are just young as they were all the same size. The smallest one is the reason I got the sorority; shes a royal blue crown tail :). When I fed them you could see their little bellies fill up hehe; I did over feed them; I will for the first few days just to make sure they are eating and then back to normal :).

I went to the shop looking for a none blue male; and I leave with blue females hehe.

I'll get pics when they eventually sit still for a minute :). I do have some but they aren't very good :(

I'll get back to you on that once they settle in more :).

The other day they were all hiding in an ornament head to tail fin, it was quite cute. Last night when I turned the lights on they were all 'sleeping' next to each other too :).

Long may it continue. I don't want to jump the gun here but I've seen one instance of flaring, no chasing, no nipping (although there is one nipped fin) - I hate to say it but it all seems to be going too well if you ask me!

That's what it is like with my girls lol I put it down to the majority of them having lived together before
