I feed all of my fish every day, first time in the morning, as soon as the lights go on. They are pretty spoilt - flakes, algae wafers and pellets every day, then bloodworm and brine shrimp every other day, and lots of veggies. They're all fine, the most recent fishy death I had was this morning, but that was when one of my pregnant female guppies was giving birth and was being hassled by the other fish. I found her dead when I did a water change a little while ago. :-( Anyway, so my fish get fed alot by me, but whenever anybody walks into my room, the whole lot of them swim up to the front of the tank and follow them. It's usually my Mum, and she feeds them too. I don't mind her doing it, she can't resist anyway because my biggest red scrat, who she named Gulper, always pushes to the front to get to see her! So they get fed a few times a day, but my ammonia levels are normal, so I don't really think there's any problem - is there? Do you think that they are really hungry all the time though, because if I don't feed them every time I walk past then I feel guilty... :*) ! Is something wrong if they are that hungry, or do you think they just want attention?!

Fish will commonly swim to the front of the tank when someone walks into the room, mine do it all the time. :p It reminds me that they are just as interested in watching us as we are of watching them. :p

My little piggies will eat anything, anytime.

I thought they were starving and for a few weeks I started feeding them day and night. Then my water started getting cloudy between water changes and I found I was picking up a lot of food when I vacuumed the gravel. I realized the fish weren't nearly as hungry as they wanted me to think. -_- Clever little fellows.

Anyway, I stopped the night feeding and my tank is much cleaner - which is better for them, and they are much more active and not so sluggish.

If your mom is going to feed them anyway, I would either cut way back on what I feed them, or just let her feed them. Overfeeding isn't good for anyone. If you could see me you'd know I know from personal experience.

fish should be fed once aday, they will eat untill they die sometimes, so just keep it in the mornings to be safe

My fish get fed about 2-3times a day, but I keep the portitions smaller. Over feeding your fish is not good for them, so try as hard as you can to make sure they get the proper amount.

I think of it this way, I love to eat, and if someone was willing to put food infront of me everytime I sat down at the table then I would eat for sure :)... and taht would not be good for me.

I think fish will eat until they die....that's why it's not good to overfeed...my fish got bloated when I accidentally spilled a lot of food in the tank and most of them look like balloon mollies....the next day they were spitting their food and had white feces..I actually lost a couple of fish due to this.....
