I go away for a week very soon, and my brother in law is coming in 2-3 times to feed my fish. I am worried though because I feed my betta 3 times a day, and he is gonna go down to two or three times in one week.... is this gonna be a problem? Should I start feeding him a little less in preparation?

bettas use there energy wisely, bettas can live for a week or 2 without food usually.

u shud be fine though if he coming in to feed them :good:

thanks

paul

Ah good. I am away for 2 days, return for one night, then go away for a week! I'll start feeding him a little less next week so it doesn't come as too much of a shock to him :p , then give him a good portion when I return after 2 days, do a big water change last thing at night, then give him a normal portion early next morning when I leave! :)

As a novice to Betta keeping I have to query about feeding 3 times a day?

I was told once a day at most as overfeeding can cause swim bladder problems

no, 3 times a day is fine as long as the portions are correct

I give him 3 betta pellets or a tiny sprinke of betta flakes for each feeding, is this right?
I know he would eat betta pellets all day if i let him... :p

yeah huni thats fine, my girls normally have pellets and flake in a day

:)

All my tank pics turn out crap cos the tank is plastic and seems to distort everything! I'll have a try this weekend when there is plenty of natural light so I don't need the tank light on or the flash, and will set up my tripod. baby has a huge plant in the middle of his tank which he loves to swim through! Unfortunately the plants you sent me died :( which was a shame as my frogs seemed particularly taken by them!

thats very odd, they were straight from the shop and i left em in my bucket, but saying that my plants get food, and i think the ones i sent u were delicate lol ooopsie my bad

no worries, it was very nice of you to send them! none of my plants are doing great but I just got some king british plant food so hopefully they will start to look better!
