Multiple question. I wanted to see how many times do you feed your fish a week. :good:

once a day, but in bigger amounts. but ever since on of my big guys died, i cut back

Seems to be whenever someone walks past the tank

But now we are cutting them back and feeding 1 - 2 times a day.

Water was getting to dirty

I voted every other day and also follow the fast day principle.
I think that compared to the sustanance they would receive in the wild, they receive more than enough.
Also i think its unnatural (then again so are aquariums) to feed them at the same time everyday so i tend to feed when i think it is suitable....
Without following a pre-prepared pattern.
I do, in contrast with this, make sure they get occasional vitamins, for health purposes.

Although this obviously depends on the fish.
My Otocinclus and Pleco get courgette/carrot daily due to me worrying that there isnt enough algae in their tank.

Small amounts twice a day, mainly because all my fish are quite small species that need small amounts often, For larger fish, i would probably only feed once a day if that.

i feed my guys in the morning, in late evening, and around 3-4am i give them treats such as gammarus shrimp or bloodworms. the only fish that get it though are the oens that come to the surfae to grab it from me.

Depends on the tanks. My FW tanks get once every two to three days. My frogfish gets fed once a week to once a fortnight at the mo as I try and starve him onto dead. My reef gets small amounts 3-5 times a day.

Well I have,

2 mickey platies
1 red wag platy
4 x-ray tetras
1 blue apple snail

They are small fish but I feed them every other day. Should I feed them twice a day and small amounts? But evrey time I change something my fish sometimes die.

I feed mine twice a day, but I fast them one day a week.

I feed my FW fish once a day and give them a break one day a week. My SW fish I feed twice a day and my Multi fry 2-3 times a day.

It really just depends on what you prefer, have time for, and how your fish look. Since some of my fish are far from fully grown I prefer to feed 2-3 very small meals per day. I also try to avoid fat fish (I do have one or two gluttons that are a bit on the fat side)...slim and sleek is the way to go. I feel that what you are feeding does have a little bit to do with it though...I like to keep at least one of the meals/treats more on the vegetarian side in the hopes that 1) vitamins and nutrients are gained with less excess fats, and 2) lower protein foods = less ammonia in waste.

*Edit* Also seem to remember some researching pointing to the conclusion that fish gain more energy from fats than from carbohydrates...anyone able to confirm / refute this?
