I'd like to be able to pick up some bloodworms for my fish buddies every once in awhile as a treat, but we don't have a 'local' fish store. The nearest is about an hours drive away, and I don't have my license yet. :p

So I was wondering ... Our Walmart seems to have an abundance of earthworms that they stock as bait.
Could I buy these and feed them to my fish as a substitute? It wouldn't be forever. Once I get my license and a part-time job [i.e. I head off for collage in afew months] I'll probably be able to pick up bloodworms on a regular basis.

Anyway, are nutritional benefits the same? What's the difference between the two (bloodworms and earthworms, I mean)?
I'd like to see afew of my fish color up a bit, and I thought maybe this would help.

XD

I'm guess I'm just a skweemish girl who doesn't like dirt under her fingernails.
I'd be willing to give it a shot, though. n_n;;

So nutritional benefits the same, or no?

if you really want to feed bloodworm i would advise you feed the frezze dried variety

live bloodworm live in very dirty stagnant water as a ruke althought hey can be found in ponds and streams

they tend to bring a fair risk of disease due to therre living enviroment.

earth worms well if you can find them in your back garden and your sure there are no chemical pesticides being used then i see no problem just dont add to much and make sure you cut them up quite small.

Nah, I wasn't planning on finding bloodworms to feed them. I just figured I'd buy those.
I already have some dried bloodworms, but I thought feeding live food was a bit healthier for the fish and might help them to color up a bit ...?

I'll go and try and find some earhtworms, though, if they make good food too. I don't think we have a shovel, but maybe I can turn up some rocks or something.

Earthworms are attracted to vibrations get some speakers and point them at the ground then bang it up with some trance tunes with a heavy beat, should encourage them to the surface so they are easier to reach
