i have a huge number of snails in my community tank, and i mean masive number, little tiny grey-shelled things. i though rather than just kill them of throw them out, id feed them to the fish, just squish em and give em to the fish. one of my mollies seemed to like em so i tried it out on the bettas. peeled the shell of the snail and then feed the small soft body. by gum they go nuts for them!! my vt has been getting fed them for a week or so now and he is extremely active since i started feeding them to him.
does anyone know if it IS alright to feed them?

well, if fish eating other dead fish doesn't affect them why should snails?

I have read that it doesn't pose a problem - just don't feed him/her a sick one...

o and also; betta's will probably assume its a bug putting up a fight (a natural predatory feeling) and will have oodles of fun...

Would you have to take the shell off first? or would they crunch through it?

i peel the shell off first, if there are any bits of shell left they spit them out, but i tell you the fish go mad for them! and is seem to make them realy active. i just came home form work, and the new girl was looking relaxed and chilled out, couple of snails later and shes like she is on speed, zipping about, pausing, zip about a bit more, pause.
