Hi

would it be bad for my oscar if i fed him some frozen sardines, not the canned type, just whole sardines that i would chop up?

I'm looking to cut down fresh food costs this way. Sardines are quite cheap, maybe 6$ for 5 pounds. that would last me a while.

is there anything else i could feed him? and perhaps a severum too...

I don't see why not so long as it is in moderation. I use silversides that I purchase from a lps here thaw out a couple cut them into managable pieces and let the fish have it but like I said moderation is the key they probably only get the silversides twice a month if that.

LOL I thought the same thing for a second!

Don't they add salt and oil to sardines or is that just the canned ones? If they aren't treated with anything they should be okay for a treat but they shouldn't be the only diet. That would be just as bad as feeder fish (well not quite as bad since they wouldn't have parasites).
