when I took a crack at breeding bettas a few years ago i always had same problem. I would get through the mating fine, the female would drop eggs they would put them in the bubblenest, id take the female out daddy would watch them, theyd hatch become free swimming daddy would get taken out and then the problems would begin. I would try feeding the fry micoworms, but they always just sank to bottom, the fry never seemed to eat them. and every day I would have less and less fry until after a week theyd all dead. I dont know what im doing wrong, please help!

Have you tried Vinegar Eel. That's what we feed ours on for the first week. They are slightly smaller than microworm, and tend to swim around the different levels and survive longer in the tank. Plus it is easier to maintain cultures and feed.

You may be able to find cultures on ebay where you live :good: I've had the same culture for about 6 months now and it has fed 5 spawns.

After the first week we move them onto freshly hatched baby brine shrimp but on the occasions that the brine shrimp fail, we still have the VE as a back up.

It's not too bad once you get the hang of it. Have a look on our website under the breeding section. It tells you how to set up and collect BBS and has a diagram to explain things a little easier.

The babies love to hunt them down too and you can always tell they've eaten cos they get little fat pink bellys lol
