Aggh im torn between these two...i need another's opinion to put me over the edge on either

It is ultimately up to you to decide whether you want to do it or not. Bitteraspects raised some good points, but like he said, it isn't absolutely needed. If you enjoy watching your Oscar hunt, then it can be done the way I posted. As long as your Oscar is getting some food formulated some some type of vegetation he will be fine. He doesn't need too much of it anyways.

You can train them to accept any food. There is nothing the guppies can eat that the oscar can't. And there is no benefit of using feeders.
I have real predators, that generally only eat live foods, and I have them all eating dry foods. It was a long process to get them off of live foods, but it happened, and they're all very healthy and happy.
Remember, if you do use feeders, theirs a chance they will stop eating dry food and only want feeders.

Not to mention the cost of feeders. Even if you breed your own, you will need another tank, another power filter, and food for them. All thia added cost when you could have just got a bag of pellets instead.
And since the tank your Oscars are in is already too small, I doubt you have the means to set up a proper breeding tank.

And a power filter or canister rated for 300gph?
Instead of setting up a new tank, you should worry about getting a proper tank for the oscars.

90g is only big enough for one.

A sine oscat will need at least a 75/90g footprint. So unless you only plan to keep one you will need a 6 foot tank.
