First off apologies for the rather rubbish pictures and if you watch the video and dont want to hear cbeebies in the background turn down your sound ;)

NOW - I dont know whether she's just been extra greedy or if theres going to be the splish splosh of little fins - if the latter how long does it take for a Lyretail sword pregnancy? anyways - pics and vid below :)

I think she is just fat because I cant see a gravid spot. :good:
If she was pegnant by her anal fin her belly would have a black spot. :good:

^^ Gravid spots are useless when it comes to diagnosing pregnancy in livebearers.

She looks pregnant to me, but still has a week or so left yet (although young females don't have as many fry or get as big as older females, so it could be sooner).

Livebearers drop fry roughly every 30 days, but it can be a bit shorter or a bit longer, depending on temperature.

omg - so in a week or so there'll be babies???? is there anything in particular i need to do or will the mummy sort them out?

You don't need to do anything, except make sure you have plenty of plants for the fry to hide in, if you want to keep a few. The mummy will be happy to eat the fry, along with the other fish.

Yeh, I'd say the bump is too round for it too be a food baby. If it was it would be dropped further to the front.

I'm guessing a few weeks to go, as the stomach flattens off and she'll get really wide... But I'd say you'll have some fry coming your way soon :good:
