i know nothing about these... but it would be for a 2F tank (15G)

any advice on what to get? if anything. i might keep with the internal

I have the tetratec ex1200 for my 260l tank.

It flow rate without media would be 1200 litres per hour but with media it whittles down to about 800 lph.

The media you can use in externals mean they are generally more efficient (sponge, floss, carbon, bio balls, ceramic rings and even gravel and sand).

Have a look at the tetratec ex600 or ex700 to see how they work

You would still need to keep the internal running alongside though until cycled, unless you could find some mature media

thanks =]

is there a smaller model?

Fluval 205,
I ran a 205 on my 2f it did the job well.
Saying that I think Fluval have just released the next generations of the filters 206 I think it is now.

TetraTEC make an ex400... but they're as rare as rocking horse ..........

The 600 will be fine for your tank.

there expensive... £60... i might just stick with the internals

Lol, what did you expect them to be? Have a look second hand on ebay. You would get away with an All Pond Solutions aps1000

well internals are about £20 ish ... i was thinking they'd be more around that price range

Haha, i pity you when you get a big tank that needs a FX5.

Externals are far superior and give you alot of space back in the tank. Their media capability is also far superior.

when i get a big tank i'd get it second hand with the filter included =D

i guess thats true... i'll stick with internal for now i think... iv got 2 to pick from... a massive one and a smaller one... ummm
