While browsing around, I looked in their expensive section. Wow, albino pink giant gourami, $250. Pink but not albino, $199. These are about 4 inches long.

That's a lot of money for a fish.

They had Distichodus sexfasciatus for nearly $300 also.

back to the cheap section for me... :D

Well i do know that the distachodus was a rip off, my lfs sell it for around $90 for a 4-5 inch one and $50 for a 1-2 inch one.

Well this one was a 4-5" one. You hardly ever see them for sale here, so I guess the rarity lets them charge more.

They sell "rainbow gouramis" at my LPS. I assume they are white giant gouramis but dyed. They are only around 30.00$ US. I wanted to get some, but I didn't for two reasons:

1.) They are dyed and I don't want to support that.
2.) My biggest tank is only a 30 gal. and would not be well for the giant gourami.

They are beautiful fish though. I bought a new opaline gourami today. I swear he has the cutest face on him. He was the only opaline left. He has beautiful black markings on his body and little light blue speckles on all of his fin, the shine so nicely. I've had my eye on him for awhile. Just got the money to buy him today. =)

I also purchased a new rock and 2 new live plants. My bumblebee catfish is the only one who seems to appreciate the new rock. Everyone else just swims right buy it. I swear...I buy so many new things for my fish and I don't even get a thank you.

Yea, and i thought my store was expensive  The sad part is that someone will pay triple the price they should because they dont do their homework and research.

I don't usually "shop around" when it comes to fish under 10 dollars. If I see a fish that catches my eye, I usually buy it if I know it will do well in my tank. If not, I go home and research it until I find out if it would do well in my tank. I don't really have any expensive fish in my tank. The most expensive fish I have is the blue botia (which is going back to the LPS tomorrow, he is just way too aggressive :byebye: ) and my long finned blue rams. They were all around 8 dollars each. :D

I don't usually like to spend lots of money on a single fish. Too much money tied up on one single fish seems like a waste where I could have bought several fish for the same money. I also shop around before I buy. Petsmart is the cheepest but I don't shop there anymore. I now buy my fish directly from breeders.
