I would like to get a couple bettas of an "exotic" type and keep 'em in my extra 1G tanks but i dunno if it would be safe to have them in mail, and i'm not sure if i could afford one of the more uncommon types.

my LFS just carries your common $3.49 bettas :(

any info on the best types that aren't very expensive would be greatly appreciated!

no i mean breeds besides the common crowntail ya know like half moons etc.

Crowntails are defiantely not common here! i've only ever seen one CT in the flesh. And that's the one i ordered!

first of all, halfmoons and other other tail types are not differant breeds, they are mearly tail types. The veiltail at your LFS is the exact same fish as a halfmoon, just a differant tail, they are all "betta splendins" I would suggest aquabid, buy from a US seller and have them shipped, its completely safe as long as the seller know what they are doing. you can check this by viewing their feedback. you can gett a nice pair of halfmoons on aquabid for a very reasonable price, they arnt anything extraordinary, they just arnt sold at LFS because they cost more to buy than they can be sold for, and are suseptable to finrot quite easily in a small cup.

yes i have noticed crowntails becomeing very common now, walmart even carrys them.

And if u do plan to keep a couple bettas, at the very minimum you'll need 2 1g tanks, you can not keep the 2 fish on one tank together or even with a divider, it just wont work out.
