As title...

Had a wanted ad on AC for a bit with no joy, nor any luck anywhere else either... but just got word of these for sale today!
Going to head over now... they Uaru are pricey at £75 each, so depends on what they're like when I get there, but the parrots are reasonable.

Pictures later :hyper:

Well, a bit mixed... I did want to come away with a couple of each, but I just couldn't justify the cost of the Fernandezyepezi, for the size they were at. Wild caught and there's always that risk with them... £150 was a bit much to risk at this moment and time :-( So I took some small Uaru Amphicanthoides instead and will keep an eye out if they become available again.

I have come away with my parrot though and possibly going to get two more... we'll see! Around 4" in size at the moment but just aclimatising them, so no pictures yet.

As for where they were from.. it's Ferrybridge Aquatics. Nice bloke :good:

Crazy long word for a latin name, i'll stick to 'Panda uaru' lol

Very nice. I would not get any more parrots. They don't always play well with there own kind. They get big and fast they never seems to stop growing because they mature so slowly. I got mine when she was 4" and wild caught. She is not 7" and still growing. I have not had her for a year yet. she is still growing too.

She is a great fish never starts fights holds her own. She always seems to try and avoid problems. She is kind of shy and will hide when new people are around. BUt for the most part she just swims around and looks pretty. She likes to dig. I have seen her make a good pile of sand a few times. Mine does not like floating pellets because she hates to take food from the surface. Sinking pellets are a must if you want them to get the most food they can.

Yes panda Uarus are so much money but are really pretty. How big is your tank?

150g for the moment. I was going to wait until the house move, where my main tanks will be two stacked 180g's, but worked out that the 150 would just squeeze in this house, so the decision was made!

I've changed my direction and stock several times since setting up an American Cichlid tank, from the Mbuna tank, but I think I am now heading where I want to, which is all South American and fairly peaceful... well, as peaceful as they want to be  Also looking for something other than the 'norm' so to speak, so swapping and changing around a little as things come in.

At the minute, there is the True Parrot, 6 Geophagus Iporangensis, 1 Tiny Green Severum, 1 Gold Severum, 1 meant to be green, but looks a pastey red Severum, the 2 tiny Uaru and my pair of Chromidotilapia Guntheri. The Guntheri are going in their own tank very soon and the Geos I am hoping to get a pair or two from, then they will be going in their own too. Whether they will be replaced with anything else is anyones guess.. but I think fully grown, that will be plenty.

ah shame about the uaru but great news about the parrot. both of those fish are both on my list of fish i really want to keep. i would ask for photos but i would just get jelous!

I have been trying to get good photos, but I only have my old camera phone. Spending too much money on tanks, fish and just about everything else to be able to afford a camera... or some new clothes for that matter

He/She (Really gonna have to name it!) is eating fine for the first time today. It had taken a couple of bloodworm the day after getting it, but since then nothing.. but today the NLS went down a treat, so I can relax. I'm suprised how quickly it has settled and it's usually up at the front greeting me now, with the others. Like the larger Severum though, it's not too keen on having it's picture taken and shoots off behind the redmoor roots...

I will try and get some good photos though!

I have some which are passable as OK, so I will put them on later.

As said in another thread, the Panda Uaru which were £75... our main supplier at work had them listed this week so I have ordered some in! Fingers crossed they weren't all gone and they came in today. I'm going to be in early tomorrow to see whether they have or not :hyper:

Only picture I have that isn't blurry.

Only around 4 1/2" ish I reckon, maybe a touch more. It's the opposite of what you have said yours is like though Snowflake, as mine is the first one out and is always cruising the tank checking out what's going on. No problem with food, be it ones floating on the top or sinking and it'll eat all day  Love it and so glad that I got one.. just going to spend the time watching him/her mature now.

*Edit* It does have a kind of growth above it's eye, which apparently, it has had for as long as the FS and the guy who brought them over has had them. In the time I have seen, it hasn't grown or changed in appearence so I am just monitoring it and keeping the water pristine. Hopefully it is something and nothing.
