I have finally asked the question I have been scared to ask my husband since I bought this tank 2nd hand from this site :D (It's a 22 litre nano for a betta!!!!)

Yee haa I'm allowed to set it up in our bedroom :D (if I knew how to do the cheering smilie on the iPad I'd be doing it now!)

Clearly guys and gals with mts the time to ask is on your birthday!! :D

One question however:

It has the media in it from when it was last used, I would say around dec time. Am I ok to use this media or should I buy more and start afresh?
I will be swapping some media from my other running filter to give it all a kick start and would replace with the dry media from this nano tank (hope that makes sense) however as the bacteria has clearly died off on this replacement media would I potentially be causing trouble if using in my running filter?

Since the bacteria is already dead on the media, if the media isn't dirtied or anything then it should be fine. I'm not sure what you mean by your swapping from a filter that's running to your nano and then using the other old media for what? If your using the media with no bacteria in your already cycled tank it will go through a mini cycle again, and depending on your fish could harm them. If your fish are somewhat hardy they should be fine considering there's lots of bacteria on the gravel or whatever substrate and in the water. Not sure if I answered your question but yeah...

Use the "dry" sponges in your nano your be fine, and seed it with some biological filtration from your 180L (ceramic noodles or rings)
If your just having a single Betta im willing to bet this will be more than enough bacteria to support its bioload.

Happy Birthday by the way x

I take it that was mine. I washed it fairly well so it should be fine. :) Looking forward to seeing this up!

Thanks slim! I had a good day despite us all getting over various bugs :) x

Yes Naringlo it is your tank :D
Had another look at it last night and got all excited (little things hey?) however I have been very patient about setting up this tank.

Reserved a betta this morning! :D :D :D so best get on with it all now.

Ooooh, sounds fun!

I've always wanted a Betta tank but living with my parents still, I've never had the chance.
I can't complain at my Roma 125 though! :)

What colour and type is the one you have reserved?  Can't wait to see it all set up.

Ooh I'm with you josh lol, I remember when I used to live with the folks and buying a tank small enough that I could hide behind a wardrobe on a chest of drawers! Needless to say mother did find it after a few days and it didnt go down too well at the time, so I feel your pain, but at least you have a decent sized one.

Thanks RCA I'm so excited and its my first ever betta!
Colour I can help you with but not type lol.
He is £4-99 and a stunner at the price in my eyes, deep blue and purple.
Ill start a journal type thing on that too. :D

Shall be asking your advice on betta care mind lol ;)

Sounds lovely, put a picture when you get him in the Betta section of the forum.
What shape is his tail, or shall I be patient and wait for the pic?
Get some Indian Almond Leaves to put in his tank.
