I've had a tank for about 3 weeks now, everything has been going fine until this morning when I woke up to see my killifish attacking my smallest zebra danio. Ok, so I thought this was strange cause my killifish normally just swims at the top of the water and minds its own business. Things got really weird when the killifish not only attacked it, but swallowed it whole! It didn't even wait for the danio to die, it just swallowed it alive? Is this normal, or should I be concerned?

What species of Killifish, Golden wonder by any chance (Aplochelius lineatus gold).

Yeah I think that's it, it looks like this,

Hi nate,
Yeah thats him. Aplo. lineatus gold.

I forgotten how many times I have stated on this forum that Aplochelius lineatus is a large predatory killifish which can and does attain a length of 4" or 100mm in the home aquarium. It has a mouth which can open very wide and will consume any small fish that will fit into it. The fish themselves are a beautiful species and an excellent beginners fish when wanting to get into Killis but are much better off kept in a species tank or with fishes of comparative size. They are usually sold around the 2" (50mm) size and I can see why people are attracted to them but really you LFS should be supplying more details when he/she are selling fish of this nature. If not removed from a community tank based around small fish like cardinal tetra and the aforementioned danios then this species of fish will go about systematically devouring everything that will fit into its cavernous mouth.
I hope this was of some help to you.
Remember it's not the fishes fault, it's the nature of that particular species.

Thanks, that helps a lot, I have a few smaller neon tetras...hopefully I have time to put my killifish in a different tank!

I reckon I've saved a few neons there then.
Wise move to rehome the Killis.
