Have you ever wondered why your Betta got sick? You try to think of some change or some condition recently that may have caused him/her to get sick and you just can't think of anything. Well, next time, and I hope none of us have a next time, try thinking back TWO weeks ago. I've have observed that it usually takes two weeks for the signs to surface from some stressfull event the Betta went through that resulted in him getting sick. It could take longer too so you may want to think back to three weeks. The way I figure it is this:
STRESSFULL EVENT occurs
Betta is stressed and his immune system is weakened.
Within a few days of this weakened immune system some desease developes.
About a week to two weeks after this the signs of the desease surface.
The worst part is many fish deseases are hard to spot until it may be too late. This is why I always examine my Bettas with a magnifying glass every other day.
