Erm, Does This Sound Alright?!

I've started my 5 Gallon, I took some media from my other tank, so everything is gravy! Got sand and a bridge and a fake plant from my old old tank:') Waiting for a few days, testing my water and doing 'add and wait method' Then mooching about for plants.
I am going to have a betta and a few shrimp!

Hi well the bacteria will die off after 24 hours so no I'm afraid your best off fish less cycling ( can e found in the resource centre )

Adding the media and keep it living by adding ammonia would also work

Most Lfs only have veil tails, you'll have more choice if you order online, though that will cost more

Well, there is a massive aquatic warehouse near me, I noticed a crowntail in there once. I might have to ask if they can get one! But I like them halfmoons too!-.-

have you had a tool at rosetail bettas? they are similar to half moons but they have more tails so it end up in kinda folds..it's hard to explain but it can look really cool
