Hi i have been doing some reserch/making a shopping list, what do you think of it?

HYDOR KORALIA 4000 EVOLUTION
D&D REFRACTOMETE
TMC V2 SKIM COMPACT 500 PROTEIN SKIMMER or Deltec MCE600 Hang On Marine Protein Skimmer
D&D 75 GPD Reverse Osmosis Water Filter Marine Aquarium or Reverse Osmosis Water Filter VYR-RO1
API SALTWATER MASTER TEST KIT MARINE FISH & REEF TANK
red sea phosphate nitrate remover marine reef coral
D&D TDS meter
D&D salt

Not sure which skimmer to go for i would go for the TMC simply for the price but i have heard some poor reviews.
Also im not sure which RO filter to go for.

This will all be coing in my juwel rio 300 and will one day be a full reef.

Is there anything else i need?
Thanks

i'm not at all certain but i'm pretty sure the V2 500 compact isnt powerful enough for that size tank, but i stand to be corrected

I would say get the salifert test kits. I had a whole explanation from my lfs about how the kits work and API are apparently mainly focused on freshwater so not as top notch as salifert made for saltwater. They are able to test through all the 'extra' bits saltwater has and not confuse it. He thinks that Tropic Marin is better than Salifert too because of how they are made. In short he said the more complicated it is to do the test the better it is! :D

I have just received today my new Osmotics RO unit and it is a beast! Lovely unit, I think I love it lol! I don't think really it matters what make you go for, probably some last longer than others I guess but the key to maintaining their life is to look after them :D

How many stages is that D+D Ro unit?

Hi never knew you could fall in love with a RO filter, this makes the venture into marines even more exciting
i will have a look at them test kits, ive always used API on my freshwater thank so assumed they would be good a marines to.
Its a 3 stage, im guessing that the more stages the better?

Thanks

look at this one http://www.littleocean.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=75
I just got this one today!
I just love it compared to the 2nd hand ones I keep buying and they are rubbish compact units so decided to bite the bullet and get a proper one :D
This is 4 stage so has Di resin as well, this helps to just polish off the water after the membrane for good quality!

Is your tank going to be a reef tank or fish only with live rock (fowlr)? If its going to be a reef tank then we aim for arroud 20x turn over per hour so on a rio 300 you are look at about 8000 lph. So you would require two of the Koralias.

Hi i have been doing some reserch/making a shopping list, what do you think of it?

HYDOR KORALIA 4000 EVOLUTION- Are you having just one powerhead? More is better for a more random flow. I would recommend around 30x turnover depending on what you are planning to keep so around 9000lph
D&D REFRACTOMETE- Good
TMC V2 SKIM COMPACT 500 PROTEIN SKIMMER or Deltec MCE600 Hang On Marine Protein Skimmer- Go for the deltec, much better. Although more expensive the skimmer is one of the things you shouldnt skimp on.
D&D 75 GPD Reverse Osmosis Water Filter Marine Aquarium or Reverse Osmosis Water Filter VYR-RO1- Most will do, obviously the more stages it has got is better and make sure it is capable of keeping up with your demands. Look at osmotics.co.uk
API SALTWATER MASTER TEST KIT MARINE FISH & REEF TANK- I personally use salifert or Red Sea. I know a lot of people use API but I have heard bad reviews on these kits.
red sea phosphate nitrate remover marine reef coral- Is this the No3Po4-X product? If so thats good, what I use :good:
D&D TDS meter- Good
D&D salt- Why that salt? Not saying it is bad, just look at the salt parameters and see if you are happy with levels. Most made for reefkeeping SHOULD be okay.

Not sure which skimmer to go for i would go for the TMC simply for the price but i have heard some poor reviews.
Also im not sure which RO filter to go for.- As above

This will all be coing in my juwel rio 300 and will one day be a full reef.

Is there anything else i need?- Not that I can think of.
Thanks

Hope that helps.
