This is my male betta antuta (the blue one)
He doesn’t have a name, but he is one of my favorite fish. He is pictured here with his mate, Peanut Betta the Second.

Antuta are mouth brooders, meaning they don’t create bubble nests like the more common betta splendens. Instead, the male keeps the fertilized eggs in his mouth for safe keeping until they hatch.

They have successfully spawned a few times, and I’m looking forward to seeing them produce more little betta fry

They are kept in a heavily planted 20g

P.S. I am taking name suggestions for him! Give me all your creative ideas

Pretty Boy Floyd​

Introducing my Plakat Koi Betta Splendens named Pretty Boy Floyd. Betta Splendens are also known as Siamese fighting fish due to their aggressive nature when protecting their territories. Pretty Boy Floyd's fighting weight is about 5 grams.

I bought Floyd a month ago at the LFS....he looked at me and wiggled and I looked at him and fell in love! I had to have him so I brought him home to my planted 5 gallon aquarium with its large sponge filter.

Floyd is a Plakat Betta which means: a traditional, short-finned variety resembling wild bettas with a sturdy, athletic build. I purposely wanted a Plakat Betta as they are much more comfortable and energetic as they swim about without having to drag around the flowing fins of some other types of Bettas.

Floyd gets fed Northfin Betta Pellets, Fluval Bug Bites, and frozen brine shrimp....only the best fish food for Floyd. I perform 50% water changes about every 10 days.

Floyd enjoys listening to Reggae music and watching fish themed movies like Jaws and Finding Nemo. He swims enthusiastically as he actively explores every inch of his new home ....it's so much better than the little cup he came from. I hope you like Pretty Boy Floyd as much as I do.

I had to take dozens of photos with my iphone 16e to get one half decent picture for my entry. The only enhancement I used was the cropping tool. I luckily got a picture of my Betta staying still which resulted in a nice clear photo.

This is my new betta splendens. Just got him a couple weeks ago from the terrific Elmer's Aquariums in Monroeville, PA. I like to get bettas there because they have a humane betta display. He has colored up so nicely since I've gotten him. He has a heavily planted 10 gallon all to himself. His diet has been live flightless fruit flies, mosquito larvae and grindal worms. Plus high quality pellets. After an initial period of hiding in the plants, he now swims comfortably in the open.
Funny story about his name. I named my last betta Dandy Chiggins (from Impractical Jokers). So I was showing this one to a friend and she asked what I named him. I didn't have one. So then she tried to recall the name of my last betta. And the best she could remember was "Fish Gonzalez". And I was like, welp, that's his name now.

Behold ! His splendor and magnificence are unparalleled ! This is “ Whitey “ . So named because he was very pale when I first got him and also very small . He colored up and grew up well . He’s a PetsMart rescue as are all the Bettas I keep . I want to say he’s a Cambodian but not entirely . He’s got some Cambodian in him though . He’s in his own ten gallon with my very old Java Fern that’s wasting away but he likes it .

This is my alien betta Neot. When I got him he was completely grey and he colored up beatuifly after he was in clean water. He looked so dull that he was 20% off! He and a very large ramshorn snail live together in a planted 6 gallon cube. He gets fed frozen foods and his favorite activity is watching my family and I play Mario Kart.
