Endlers

So the wife and I went to petmart tonight. I got another tank so I went to see what I could find. Well they had guppies on sale for 80 cents, yes, less than a buck for each fish. I always liked them so I started checking out what they had. I found endlers in the guppy tank. They are very small, less than an inch long. I told the girl working in the fish department that they were not guppies but black bar endlers. She didn't care and told us those were not the ones on sale. (they were $2.49) I got 7 of them. When I went to the cashier they came up at 75 cents each!! I guess what I want to know, they look just like the purebreed endlers I see online but what are the chances that they are pure endlers? I'm thinking not a good chance but I really like them anyways.

I work at petsmart, and the endlers they sell at the one I work at (called cobra endlers in the ordering forms) are a hybrid between a guppy and endler, to my knowledge.

Yeah, sounds like "real" endlers are pretty hard to come by in the US as far as I can tell. Shame! I've just got 12 for my community tank, they are total idiots but I love that about them!

I bought a few of the $.80 fish from petsmart for my 30 gal. I don't think they are enders though..
I'd have to wake em to get pics right now..
Not that they would mind... "Huh.. what.. FOOD?? Please " lol

where did you get them?

I actually got them from Dobbies Garden Centre. My local one has an aquatic section but I actually prefer my local Maidenhead Aquatics. They did have them in there but they were still in quarantine after having just arrived in the shop and I'm impatient!

I think they are not
My purchases may not be the same as what was offered to them.
I would classify PetSmart as the same I read about " pets at home" I see referenced so often.. NOt to be trusted IMO.With the exception of a few stores with truly exceptional individuals. I make my own choices while in there.

the red tail male did NOT come form petsmart but rather a LFS the blue and the yellow did and a few others , but you get the gist of what is on sale for that price.
This is my most oddly decorated tank.. the rest are quite normal compared. I do need to fill in my profile don't I? 5 tanks and counting.
Don't make fun of the hoggish Khuli. he just likes to eat and wont let the guppies till he is done LOL

God I love your plants.
I have all the gear and a 40 gal tank I want to make a planted I just lack a co2 tank and direction ...

so from my pictures those are guppies right?

Yep, your's are guppies The thing is they cross breed so you never really know for sure what's in there unless you've bred them yourself!

Thank you, I am new to plants too but I am soooo enjoying it! As you can see I've had a little outbreak of staghorn algae but I'm now adding liquid carbon and it's sorting that out quick-time!

That's exactly what mine look like!! Maybe they are REALLY endlers. I tried to get a good picture but the little buggers would NOT stay still. They do look just like these guys tho.

They had these listed as "cobra endlers" And I know what cobra guppys look like because I have a bunch of guppys in one of my other tanks. The guys I bought don't look like a guppy. They look just like the pictures above. I looked on aquabids.com at the endlers listed there and mine look just like them except smaller. I always wanted endlers but I didn't want to spend the money on them that people on aquabids were asking. I guess I got lucky at petsmart.
