Empty Tank Needs Fish!

Hi everyone,
Since I've moved my stock to a larger tank I have my 55 gal tank sitting empty. I used the filter media from the 55 to help seed the 125 so right now I have started cycling the 55 again. I still have no idea what I want to keep in that tank. First I was thinking African type cichlids but eventually changed my mind after some research. Then I was thinking a couple of fancy gold fish, but i'm not real sure on that either. Then I got to thinking about angelfish. So far after reading a little it seems my tank will be big enough for some but i'm not really sure how many. I haven't read anything confirming the number which would be best for the fish in that size of tank. Can anyone give me any ideas on stocking numbers that are best for angels?

1 or 2 I'd think? Am not very experienced with angels though.
 
Cant think of a good schooling fish to go with them ATM other than rummynose tetras.
You'd want the rummies to be full grown before adding angels though I think.
 
In a different direction, I'd do a leopard ctenopoma, african butterfly fish, and a school upside down catfish.

Sadly I live in a small town with very limited selection when it comes to fish. Neither of the ones you mentioned are sold here We have a few different kinds of barbs. What about not doing angels and having a school of tiger barbs?

Tiger barbs would work, I'd like a 55 with lots of them some day actually, especially the green ones!
 
Unfortunately I'm bad at stocking numbers so not sure exactly how many you'd do in this size tank. Someone else should be able to say though, hopefully.

55s are typically tall. I see no reason why you can't have 5 angels in there. Just prioritize their water preferences first and pick any other small bottom fish you might want to put in there based around those water parameters.

This is assuming you have an over filtered 55.
