Hi everyone,
Casper, the betta, has been doing fine till now. I just went to feed him and noticed he is bloated, like really bloated. Looks like he has a ball before his fins. He seems to have trouble swimming sometimes.
This week has been a stress for me so i havent been feeding him as regularly as i used to but he eats at least once a day, two pellets. Now i dont know what to do!
His water change was supposed to be on friday but with all this stress i only changed 50% of his water and am planning to change all of it today a bit latter.

Sort of like the image above that i got from google.
What should i do?

I would fast him for a few days, it wont hurt him. He should return to normal and if he doesn't WildBetta would have the best advice.

Can you get a pic of Casper for us?  Preferably one looking straight down over top of him and one looking at him from the side.  It is always best for us to see your fish VS one off the internet because small difference could mean big differences in the way you treat the problem.  For starters, fast for at least 3 days and make sure your temps are at least 82F.

I cant get a picture of him cause he's always hiding .. But it's basically what the photo shows, the scales arent spicking out which means it's not dropsy, just bloat. I read that a bit of a pea could help? Should i try?
I'm doing the water change now.

make sure the water is treated and you are adding it in slowly so the cold water doesn't mess him up when adding.
i would fast him and treat with an internal parasite med, and add salts... but you have to be 100% sure before treating so you don't make it worse.

I would advise against adding anything to the tank at this point.  Do make sure you try to match the water temperature as much as possible to avoid shock to the betta.  Definitely fast him for 3 days and make sure he poops.  Although you can feed a shelled pea, I advise frozen daphnia as it has the same laxative effect and they are more willing to eat it.

If you can not get a pic while he is in the tank, try scooping him into a clear bowl so that you can take pics.

Bad quality but you can see the little bloat on him. It's smaller than it was in the morning but it's there

Good pic.  He looks WAY better than the google pic you posted.  Seeing what Casper looks like makes me confident that fasting him for 3 days of so should pretty much fix his bloating issue.  What and how much are you feeding him on a normal basis?

Usually 2 pellets in the morning and 2 at night. Nutrafin betta pellets.
Oh and i just gave him the pea and he ate some bits, very pleased with it to be quite honest.

Are you 100% sure he's a he? It looks like a she with a distended belly in the first pic LOL

Today is the 3rd day of him fasting and supposedly i'm going to feed him tomorrow but he's still as bloated as before. So what do i do?

I would give him a little bit pea and then wait another few days.
