Hi.

I will be building a 270 gallon tank and i am thinking on it been all amazon fishes, i know elephent noses are not amazon but we are making a couple of exeptions like the clown loaches. so i was wondering are Elephent noses/ black nife fish ok with discus/clowns/corys/plecs/tetras and other amazon fishes. I know they cant be kept in pairs or with each other.

Thanks

From an article I read today, I don't think you could keep elephant noses in a community tank as they enjoy being species only, are nocturnal, and struggle to compete for food.

I hope that was some help!

Hi do you mind telling me what website you use for your information on fish.

thanks

black ghost knifefish are beautiful, but unfortuneatly it is not advised to have them in a tank with tetras, as they hunt them down and eat them during the night

Mostly this one, but the article was in this months "tropical fishkeeper". It has a picture of a betta on the front.

I have had elephant nose fish and they are peaceful but mine were always kept with other peaceful fish. if yuo jsut have one elephant you shoudl be fine it is when you get two or more that they start arguing amongst one another.
