I saw this on ebay and wondered if it would be any good for aquarium use!

It tests PH but also tests chlorine. I don't know what the chlorine levels are in my tap water but I can often smell a faint chlorine odour coming from the tap water. Whilst I'm confident that the Stress Coat is dealing with my Chlorine it would be nice to know that I have effectively treated the water.
The fact that this device measures PH is the main reason I would use it though and is hopefully more accurate that the PH test strips I have at the moment

Cheers

I see no reason why it wouldn't work for an aquarium. Would be a fine investment over tests strips and the liquid kits.

City tap water is pretty mad, i dont even drink it myself. But any kind of aquarium water conditioner should take care of chlorine and hard metals pretty quick.

Electronic PH meters are ok for the short term. They tend to lose accuracy over time.

A good electronic PH meter costs £100s.

Worth trying it, but i would prepare yourself for possible disappointment.

We used an electronic pH tester at the LFS where i used to work, it was very good as long as it was correctly calibrated and reset between tanks.
We only had it for the last 9 or so months that i worked there, though, so i can't comment on long term reliability.

You need to go and buy pH buffer solutions to calibrate your electronic pH meter with. There is probably also a test solution for the chlorine meter as well. You need to have these since the electronic meters tend to drift over time, and you'll have to periodically recalibrate the meter to the correct values.
