Hi All,

Been pointed in the direction of this site for EI stufs but i cant find Potassium sulphate for a unique sourse of Potassium (K)

I'm not adding Potassium Phosphate any more due to phosphate in tap water so this leaves me with a Potassium Deficieny.

I have found 'Sulphate of Potash' but not sure if this is the same thing or not?

Cool. Its exactly the same then is it? SO add the same amount to make a solution as what I have ben doing already?

Are you asking is there the same amount of K in Potassium Sulphate as there is in Potassium Phosphate and hence Can I use same dosing levels?

No, I don't think so, recalculate if I were you....

(I can confirm when I get home...)

Nah, i was asking if its the same stuff and mineral content as there would be from the stuff from Aquaessentials for example.

I think he's asking is there the same amount of K in sulphate of potash as there is in the Potassium Sulphate as listed in chucks calc.

I'm pretty sure it's the same stuff.

So that you can research this further and to confirm, I have copied the info written on the side of the actual boxes of chemicals that I have got from Garden Direct:

Potassium Phosphate (Phosphate of Potash)
Phosphorus Pentoxide (P2O5) 52% (P 22.7%)
(Soluble in water)
Potassium Oxide (K2O) 34% (K 28.2%)

Potassium Nitrate (Salt Peter)
Nitrogen (N) 13%
(Soluble in water)
Potassium Oxide 46% (K 38.2%)

Potassium Sulphate (Sulphate of Potash)
Potassium Oxide (K20) 50% (K 41.5%)
(Soluble in Water)

Hope that helps,

Andy

I have the same Potassium Phosphate from there, however i dont think it's the mono Potassium phosphate that's used in chucks calc (KH2PO4)

Well, got some Soft fruit food (Sulphate of Potash) from B&Q, sifted out the large bits to ensure its a powder and added 110grams to 1 litre of water. Not all of it has disolved but i think it may do with a bit more shaking.

THe box says: Potassium Oxide K2O 50% (K41.5%) (Soluble in Water)

Is this the same stuff then?

Yep.

I found that for my PMDD I was adding so much of the stuff to 1Litre of water that NO WAY way it going to dissovle. So I thought 'aye up, cocked that up then', so back to the on-line calcs for some reassurance and it woluld appear that I was indeed correct in the amount I was mixing up. So everytime I use it I have to stir the dosing mixture up like a mad man, syringe some up quickly in stick it in. I Keep It Simple whereby 1ml == 1ppm dose in the tank.

Andy

I expect this stuff is not quite as pure and free of 'bits' as the stuff Aquaessentials gets so might end up going back to it for that reason alone but I quite like this experiemnting lark :D
