theres a guy auctioning off full sets of eheim media on ebay starting price 99p they usually sell around £10 to buy from a shop its £25 a set it might be worth a look

the only real difference is the shape. surface area (volume) is the same. but Substrate Pro, cloggs far less. offering better flow, and less cleaning. i suggest you follow jacko32's advice and look for kits on Ebay. but stick with Eheim.

I agree, the "pro" is also generally cleaner to set up, as the standard Ehfisubstrat will come with a lot of sintered glass dust, which will have to be washed out first before using.
